Lake Butler and the Butler Chain of
Lakes
 |
| The Butler Chain of
Lakes in Orlando is made up of 11 lakes and
is just north of Universal Studios. |
The Butler Chain of Lakes is located in
West Orlando just a little north of Universal
Studios and right next to Bay Hill Country Club. The
Butler Chain of Lakes is a total of 4,700 acres
combining the eleven lakes that make up the chain of
lakes. There is only one public boat ramp on the
Butler Chain and is located on Lake Islesworth just
south of Windermere. There is a boat launching fee
of $5.00 and the boat ramp is closed after dark.
The Butler Chain of Lakes is an excellent
place to catch largemouth bass in Central Florida.
The water is clear and there are some deep areas on
the chain where the water can get up to 30 feet.
With Urban Development surrounding the entire shore
line with some expensive homes and the Bay Hill Golf
Course, the best bass fishing can be found by
fishing over underwater vegetation and offshore
structure where catching 3 to 6 pound bass is not
uncommon. Lake Comparisons
The Butler Chain of Lakes is a great summertime
location to catch trophy bass in Orlando unlike the
Conway Chain which can be tough. The Butler Chain is
completely surrounded by huge expensive homes unlike
Lake Toho in Kissimmee which is almost completely undeveloped.
The Butler Chain of Lakes is another good
bass lake to bring your kids bass fishing
because the fishing is consistent enough to hold
there attention. The other thing nice about the
Butler Chain is there is a chance of catching some
nice bass in the six to ten pound range. Fishing
here is also good on artificial as well as free
lining shiners for some great excitement. If your
